Softball Recap: Buena Beats Pueblo for Their Fourth Straight Win

Buena won the last time they faced Pueblo and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Colts walked away with a 20-16 victory over the Warriors. With that win, the Colts brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Morgan Smith was a standout: she went 4-for-6 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Hailey Larson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Buena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .521. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory (which was Buena's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-16. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games. As for Pueblo, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buena will host Tucson High Magnet School at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pueblo, they will welcome Canyon del Oro at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dorados' pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
