Baseball Game Preview: North Central Eagles vs. Fairview Apaches

North Central is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Fairview is on a seven-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will welcome the Apaches at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Gavin Shockley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for North Central: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-9 otherwise. Wyatt Gruber was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Fairview was able to grind out a solid win over Ayersville on Friday, taking the game 7-2. The victory continues a trend for the Apaches in their matchups with the Pilots: they've now won four in a row.

Anthony Singer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shady Fritch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavin Palladino, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

North Central's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Fairview, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.
