Baseball Game Preview: Mountain View Toros vs. Dobson Mustangs

For the second straight game, Mountain View will face off against Dobson. The Toros will challenge the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Mountain View barely beat Dobson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Toros' pitchers stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. That ten-run margin sets a new team best for the Toros this season.

Devin Park looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Mountain View is 2-1 when Park allows three or fewer hits, but 6-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Beck Bertsche was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Carson Goodwin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Mountain View hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dobson struck out 11 times.

Mountain View is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Dobson, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.
