Basketball Recap: Temple Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Temple Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 69-68 heartbreaker at the hands of the First Coast Christian Knights. Temple Christian Academy was up 44-29 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Despite the loss, Temple Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Daiyon Williams, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 boards. Williams has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Devine, who posted 13 points.

Even though they lost, Temple Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead First Coast Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tavarion Stevens, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Stevens a new career-high in assists (seven). Chase Bradshaw was another key player, going 9 of 15 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds.

Temple Christian Academy's record is now 3-8. As for First Coast Christian, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Temple Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-48 win against Baldwin on the 7th. As for First Coast Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 87-26 victory against Hope Christian Academy on the 7th.
