Baseball Recap: Howland Wins Going Away Against Edgewood

Howland lost to Edgewood back in May of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Tigers blew past the Warriors 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Steven Bubon looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Howland: the team is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Luca Fronzaglio, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Terry Werner also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Howland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Edgewood struck out six times.

The win made it two in a row for Howland and bumps their season record up to 10-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Edgewood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Howland will welcome McKinley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Dragons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.5 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Edgewood, they will face off against Perry at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
