Volleyball Recap: Red Mountain Takes a Loss

Red Mountain was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Basha Bears. While the Mountain Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bears 25-15 in the first set.

Red Mountain started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 15-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-21.

When it comes to explaining why Red Mountain lost, don't look at Ella Sullivan. Despite the final result, she had 19 digs and three aces. With that strong performance, Sullivan is now averaging an impressive 10.4 digs per game.

Leading Basha to victory were Kaylie Lynar and Isla Little. Lynar had 11 digs and three aces, while Little had 17 digs and three assists. That's the most aces Lynar has posted over her last nine contests.

Red Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Basha, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Red Mountain didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against Higley on the 15th. As for Basha, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Gila Ridge on the 17th.
