Basketball Game Preview: Martinsville Artesians vs. Whiteland Warriors

The Martinsville Artesians will face off against the Whiteland Warriors at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Martinsville lost 63-37 to Bloomington South on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Artesians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Panthers are ranked 21st).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Addie Curless, who posted seven points. Layla Mallery was another key player, putting up four points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Whiteland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Rushville by a score of 50-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered since January 5th.

Martinsville's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Whiteland, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Things could have been worse for Martinsville, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-36 loss to Whiteland in their previous meeting back in December of 2023.
