Football Recap: Hampton County Hurricanes vs. Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers
Hampton County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 40-35 heartbreaker at the hands of the Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers.
Tarell Grant threw for 56 yards on three of six attempts. Desmond Mathis was his top target, picking up 31 receiving yards. On the ground, Jaylen Singletary rushed for 187 yards and three TDs.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Christ Church Episcopal to victory, but perhaps none more so than Michael Martin II, who rushed for 236 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Those 236 rushing yards gave Martin II a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Judd Windham, who threw for 162 yards and four TDs while completing 75% of his passes.
Hampton County's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Christ Church Episcopal, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
