Football Recap: Vero Beach Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Vero Beach can now relate to. They took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dr. Phillips Panthers on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Vero Beach saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tarvos Alford picked up 0.5 sacks and made 18 total tackles (1.5 for loss). The dominant performance also gave Champ Monds a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).

Vero Beach's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4. As for Dr. Phillips, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

Vero Beach does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dr. Phillips, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 24-13 loss against Lake Mary on the 6th.
