Volleyball Recap: Otay Ranch Comes Up Short

Otay Ranch managed to slip by Eastlake the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Mustangs lost 3-0 to the Titans on Wednesday. The Mustangs just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

While Otay Ranch ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-18, 25-19.

Zim Garcia paced Otay Ranch's offense, picking up ten kills. Garcia got some help from Nolan Gervacio and his 17 assists. Kane Popperwill-Corpus controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Otay Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Eastlake, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-11.

Looking ahead, Otay Ranch will take on Torrey Pines in a tournament on Friday. As for Eastlake, they will venture away from home to challenge Bonita Vista at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
