Basketball Recap: Bucklin Finds Playoff Glory Versus Cunningham

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Bucklin walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat the Cunningham Wildcats 67-25. The Red Aces' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Emmy Kirk continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double with 17 points and nine assists. Her morning made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Karlee Evans, who shot 60% from the field to rack up 15 points and six rebounds.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Bucklin was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

The win (which was Bucklin's 16th in a row) raised their record to 18-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points over those games. As for Cunningham, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Bucklin will take on Ashland at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Ashland has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 188 points over their last three contests. Cunningham does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
