Preview: Hale Cardinals vs. Rock Port Blue Jays
The Hale Cardinals and the Rock Port Blue Jays will round out the year against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Hale has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 177 points over their last three matchups.
Hale pushed their score all the way to 62 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grundy County/Newtown-Harris. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on December 8th (56), Hale still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, Rock Port had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They strolled past North Nodaway with points to spare, taking the game 46-32.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rock Port to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jack Meyerkorth, who scored 15 points. Meyerkorth is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Makings, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Hale's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Rock Port, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Hale lost to Rock Port on the road by a decisive 54-40 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Hale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
