Basketball Game Preview: Slinger Owls vs. Nicolet Knights

Slinger hasn't had much luck against Nicolet recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Slinger Owls will challenge the Nicolet Knights at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Slinger sitting on eight straight wins and Nicolet on seven.

Slinger is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wisconsin's top teams: Freedom, who was ranked 13th at the time (Slinger was ranked tenth). Slinger put the hurt on Freedom with a sharp 71-49 victory last Friday. The Owls have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Nicolet beat West Allis Central 85-80 on Saturday.

Slinger better keep an eye on Rashaad Davis. He was instrumental in Nicolet's win, going 13 for 22 on his way to 29 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Davis' afternoon made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja?Meir Hayfort, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 17 points.

Slinger pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Nicolet, their record is now 9-1.

Slinger was taken down by Nicolet 84-44 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Slinger avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
