Baseball Game Preview: Buffalo Gap Bison vs. Stonewall Jackson Generals

The Buffalo Gap Bison will venture away from home to take on the Stonewall Jackson Generals at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Buffalo Gap will be strutting in after a victory while Stonewall Jackson will be coming in after a defeat.

Buffalo Gap had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Luray on Friday. Buffalo Gap was the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Luray. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Bison this season.

Cooper Simmons made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Simmons was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Buffalo Gap is 2-1 when Simmons posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Buffalo Gap let Dalton Coffey and Brandon Argenbright run wild. Coffey scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Argenbright scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was Argenbright's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cooper Cline, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Buffalo Gap kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Stonewall Jackson didn't have quite enough to beat Buffalo Gap on Tuesday and fell 6-4. The Generals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Buffalo Gap's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Stonewall Jackson, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Buffalo Gap came out on top in a nail-biter against Stonewall Jackson when the teams last played on Tuesday, sneaking past 6-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Buffalo Gap since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
