Baseball Recap: Owen County Has No Trouble Against Ludlow

Owen County won the last time they faced Ludlow and things went their way on Saturday too. The Rebels blew past the Panthers 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Rebels, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ayden Menchen made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Owen County: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Bryson Tirey was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Owen County is undefeated when Tirey posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brody Hearn, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Owen County now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Ludlow, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Owen County will stay at home for another game and welcome Augusta at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Ludlow, they will challenge Dayton at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
