Basketball Game Preview: Marion Local Flyers vs. Versailles Tigers

Marion Local and Versailles are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Marion Local Flyers will challenge the Versailles Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated (Marion Local has six wins , while Versailles has seven dating back to last season).

Marion Local is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Anna: they outscored them in every quarter. Marion Local put the hurt on Anna with a sharp 61-40 victory on Monday. That's two games straight that the Flyers have won by exactly 21 points.

Meanwhile, Versailles wrapped up 2024 with a 64-45 win over Tippecanoe. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Red Devils are ranked 164th), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Versailles' victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Marion Local, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.

Marion Local beat Versailles 56-43 in their previous matchup back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marion Local since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
