Baseball Recap: Denmark Find Success

Denmark won the last time they faced Fox Valley Lutheran and things went their way on Thursday too. The Vikings had just enough and edged out the Foxes 4-3.

Connor Paplham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Denmark is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Denmark's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kaden Derricks, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Derricks has posted since back in April.

Denmark pushed their record up to 7-11 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fox Valley Lutheran, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-11 record this season.

Denmark will welcome Waupaca at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fox Valley Lutheran does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
