Volleyball Recap: Conotton Valley Falls Despite Big Games from Ava Williams and Whitney Watkins

After flying high against Madonna on Saturday, Conotton Valley came back down to earth. The Rockets fell just short of the Garaway Pirates by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rockets of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2020.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Conotton Valley sadly wound up on the wrong side. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 23-25, 25-22.

Whitney Watkins and Ava Williams certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Watkins had 15 digs and two assists, while Williams hit 52% for 13 kills and 15 digs, two aces, and one block. Williams has been hot for a while, having posted six or more kills the last 24 times she's played.

Conotton Valley's loss ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5. As for Garaway, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-8.

Conotton Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Garaway, they will square off against Fort Frye at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
