Softball Game Preview: Warren Warriors vs. Fort Frye Cadets

The Warren Warriors will head out to challenge the Fort Frye Cadets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Warren is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

Athens hit Warren with a four-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs.

Gracie Adams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Warren saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lila Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double was Smith's first of the season.

River hit Fort Frye with a five-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cadets lost 11-1 to the Pilots. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cadets have suffered since March 29th.

Fort Frye's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Warren, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Warren came out on top in a nail-biter against Fort Frye when the teams last played last Wednesday, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
