Basketball Recap: Lake County Comes Up Short

Lake County played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 45-23 to the Cotopaxi Pirates. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost three in a row.

Cotopaxi's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Allisyn Gasseling led the charge by dropping a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Gasseling a new career-high in points. Kelsey Teter was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.

Lake County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Cotopaxi, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Lake County will square off against Arrupe Jesuit at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cotopaxi, they will take on Cripple Creek-Victor at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cotopaxi is facing Cripple Creek-Victor at the right time seeing as Cripple Creek-Victor is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
