The Blackhawk Cougars will challenge the Harbor Creek Huskies on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Blackhawk is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic a 2-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Not much got past Kylie Prisuta, who gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic off the board.
At the plate, Addy Ramer was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Harbor Creek made sure to put some runs up on the board against Elizabeth Forward on Thursday. The Huskies blew past the Warriors 10-3. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.
Addison Lucas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Lucas was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lacie Fortin, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Cipalla, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Harbor Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elizabeth Forward only posted a batting average of .241.
Blackhawk's record now sits at 9-5. As for Harbor Creek, their record is now 19-5.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Blackhawk has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461. However, it's not like Harbor Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
