The Sheldon Irish will square off against the McMinnville Grizzlies at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sheldon comes in on five and McMinnville on three.
Sheldon's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past South Eugene 10-0. That's two games straight that the Irish have won by exactly ten runs.
Savannah McKibben and Soraya Dorsey were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, McKibben tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Dorsey tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. McKibben has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, McKibben went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Dorsey went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run. That's the most RBI McKibben has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Jazmin Gallegos was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Aspen Womack was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Sheldon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, McMinnville made easy work of Newberg on Tuesday and carried off a 13-1 victory. Considering the Grizzlies have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Rylan Carton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Vivian Moore, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Sheldon pushed their record up to 16-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for McMinnville, their win bumped their record up to 18-6.
Sheldon suffered a grim 12-4 defeat to McMinnville when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Can the Irish avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
