Softball Game Recap: Cary Imps vs. Apex Cougars

Cary had lost 16 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-12 to make it 17. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 18-0 to the Apex Cougars, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, with their most recent defeat being a 18-0 loss on Tuesday.

As for Apex, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The result was nothing new for Apex, who have now won five games by eight runs or more so far this season.

For Apex's part, Audrey Mulaski made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mulaski was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Leah Kendall was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (four). Addie Louder was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Cary didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 22-7 defeat against Green Level on the 17th. As for Apex, they have also already played their next contest, a 13-2 victory against Panther Creek on the 17th.
