Softball Recap: Blanchester Comes Up Short

Blanchester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Madison Plains Golden Eagles.

Bailie Bare was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Blankenbeckler, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Blanchester's defeat dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Madison Plains, they moved to 7-14 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Blanchester will be playing in front of their home fans against Williamsburg at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Williamsburg will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. As for Madison Plains, they will take on Liberty Union at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so the Golden Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
