Basketball Game Preview: Spooner Rails vs. St. Croix Falls Saints

The Spooner Rails will challenge the St. Croix Falls Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Spooner is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Spooner was beaten by Bloomer 81-47. While losing is never fun, the Rails can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 415th, while the Blackhawks are ranked 184th).

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, St. Croix Falls beat Ladysmith 40-36 on Tuesday.

St. Croix Falls is also on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Spooner, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Spooner was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Croix Falls in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 58-51. Does Spooner have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Croix Falls turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
