Football Game Preview: Stratford Elks vs. Morton Indians

The Stratford Elks will square off against the Morton Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stratford is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

On Friday, everything came up roses for Stratford against Farwell as the squad secured a 41-13 victory. Considering the Elks have won six games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Stratford's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alejandro Casas led the charge by rushing for 80 yards and one score. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Lantelme, who rushed for 37 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Stratford was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 295 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 190 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Stratford's defense stepped up as well, laying out Kolson Allen four times. Kooper Walden refused to say out of the backfield, picking up two sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Farwell's side was Walden, who picked up two sacks and made 18 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Morton played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Hale Center 55-3. The Indians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-3.

This is the second loss in a row for Morton and nudges their season record down to 2-7-1. As for Stratford, their record is now 8-2.
