Softball Game Preview: Cullman Bearcats vs. Muscle Shoals Trojans

The Cullman Bearcats will head out on the road to take on the Muscle Shoals Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Muscle Shoals took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Cullman, who comes in off a win.

Cullman is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over Arab on Tuesday. The Bearcats haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Muscle Shoals was not able to break out of their rough patch back in March as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Deshler. Trojans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Tigers since back in March.

Cullman's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Muscle Shoals, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.

Cullman came out on top in a nail-biter against Muscle Shoals in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
