The team relied heavily on Jomar Ortiz, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zavier Hunt, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Somers came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Patriots.
Brandon Damboragian spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.
On the hitting side, Andrew Czerwinski was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Josh Giupponi also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Somers pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Windsor Locks, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Windsor Locks has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like Somers struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
