The Van Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Calhoun 79-38. Van was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-12.
Leading Calhoun to victory were Landon Bennett and Dylan Buckius. Bennett scored 12 points along with nine steals, while Buckius scored 22 points along with six rebounds. Bennett has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Owen Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Van dropped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Calhoun, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Van will be playing in front of their home fans against River View at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Calhoun, they will head out on the road to face off against Gilmer County at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
