South has gone 10-0 against North recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. It'll be Northside v. Southside when the South Spartans and the North Stars meet at 6:00 p.m. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

South is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Mira Monte on Friday. South fell just short of Mira Monte by a score of 1-0. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 527th, while the Lions are ranked 177th).

Meanwhile, North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Arvin.

North's loss dropped their record down to 3-21. As for South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8-2.

Everything went South's way against North in their previous matchup back in January, as South made off with a 3-0 win. Does South have another victory up their sleeve, or will North turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
