Basketball Game Preview: Green Sea Floyds Trojans vs. Carvers Bay Bears

Green Sea Floyds is 1-8 against Carvers Bay since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Green Sea Floyds Trojans will be playing at home against the Carvers Bay Bears at 6:15 p.m.

Last Wednesday, Green Sea Floyds ended up a good deal behind Aynor and lost 39-22. The Trojans were down 34-13 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Green Sea Floyds saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Shantavia Hilliard posted eight points.

Even though they lost, Green Sea Floyds smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Carvers Bay came tearing into Thursday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 55-8 victory over the Tigers. That 47 point margin sets a new team best for the Bears this season.

Green Sea Floyds' defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Carvers Bay, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Green Sea Floyds was dealt a bruising 41-8 loss at the hands of Carvers Bay when the teams last played back in January of 2023. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Green Sea Floyds was down 28-1.
