Recap: Fairfield Lions vs. Jackson Ironman/Ironladies
The Fairfield Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a 63-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jackson. While losing is never fun, Fairfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 575th, while Jackson is ranked 83rd).
Jackson had a senior duo take command as T.j. Carpenter scored 26 points along with seven rebounds and three steals and Mattie Walburn scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Walburn has scored all season.
Fairfield bumped their record down to 4-11 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Jackson, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.
Fairfield will head out on the road to take on North Adams at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jackson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Miami Trace at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Miami Trace and Jackson are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
