Basketball Recap: Fox Creek Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Fox Creek, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They strolled past the McCormick Chiefs with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 55-39. The Predators pushed the score to 51-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Chiefs cut but never quite recovered from.

Fox Creek found their leader in sophomore Kobe Sims, who posted 16 points and seven boards. Braylen Mitchem also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Fox Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

McCormick lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Daruis Houston, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 15 points and three steals. Houston is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrence Cartledge, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Fox Creek's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-8. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for McCormick, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Fox Creek has already played their next matchup, a 62-42 victory against Westminster Schools of Augusta on the 14th. As for McCormick, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-56 win against GREEN Upstate on the 14th.
