Basketball Recap: Raleigh-Egypt Comes Up Short

Raleigh-Egypt was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 63-57 heartbreaker at the hands of the Kirby Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Pharaohs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Cougars are ranked 111th).

It was another big night for Carey McClain, who posted 31 points for Kirby. McClain's afternoon made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Raleigh-Egypt's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Kirby, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Raleigh-Egypt will face off against Craigmont at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Raleigh-Egypt is facing Craigmont at the right time seeing as Craigmont is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Kirby, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bluff City at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
