Basketball Game Preview: Episcopal Knights vs. Houston Christian Mustangs

The Episcopal Knights will face off against the Houston Christian Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Episcopal took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Houston HomeSchool out 67-64. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since December 29, 2023.

Meanwhile, Houston Christian waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Panthers 70-33. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Panthers are ranked 697th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Houston Christian's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-11. As for Episcopal, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Everything went Episcopal's way against Houston Christian when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Episcopal made off with a 76-55 win. Will Episcopal repeat their success, or does Houston Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
