Baseball Recap: Ecorse's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It's playoff time, and Ecorse had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Academy of the Americas a 15-0 shutout on Saturday. Considering the Raiders have won 16 games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaleb Chandler was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Julio Nunez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last seven matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Darby, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

The win was the third in a row for Ecorse, bringing their record up to 17-8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Academy of the Americas, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7.

Looking ahead, Ecorse will square off against University Liggett at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Raiders 3.8, the Knights 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Academy of the Americas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
