The Northwestern Wildcats will face off against the High Point Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Northwestern comes in on four and High Point on five.
Northwestern is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest win since May 3, 2024 on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past Eastern 12-11.
Alberto Weaver made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 14 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and seven unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since April 2nd. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Williams, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Castro, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask High Point). They blew past Bladensburg 27-5 on Thursday. Considering the Eagles have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Northwestern, High Point also got a great game from a two-way player: Wander Pe?a. He pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Pe?a was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, High Point got a massive performance out of Yojancel Soto, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was Soto's first of the season. Ramon Brito Jr was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.
The victory got Northwestern back to even at 7-7. As for High Point, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Northwestern has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like High Point struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Northwestern might still be hurting after the 25-4 defeat they got from High Point when the teams last played back in March. Will the Wildcats have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
