Softball Recap: Sterling Takes a Loss

Sterling was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the LaSalle-Peru Cavaliers, falling 11-4. The Golden Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cavaliers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Marley Sechrest was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bree Taylor, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.

Sterling's loss dropped their record down to 18-9. As for LaSalle-Peru, their win was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 29-4.

Looking ahead, Sterling will challenge Metamora at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for LaSalle-Peru, they will take on Streator at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
