Baseball Recap: Sherman Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Sherman waltzed into their contest on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the South Charleston Black Eagles a 10-0 shutout. The Tide might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Luke Tagliente made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in 13 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 11 games.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brady Perdue, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Hamrick, who earned two RBI and one run.

Sherman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Sherman's record now sits at 22-7. As for South Charleston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-24 record this season.

Coincidentally, Sherman and South Charleston will both be playing Scott the next time they take the field. The Black Eagles will host the Skyhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Tide will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
