Basketball Game Preview: Smithville Seminoles vs. Caledonia Cavaliers

The Smithville Seminoles will challenge the Caledonia Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Smithville will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

While Smithville didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They enjoyed a cozy 50-31 victory over Aberdeen on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Caledonia's undefeated season came to an end after four games on Tuesday. They took a 46-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Webster. The match marked the Cavaliers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Smithville pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.7 points per game. As for Caledonia, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Smithville came up short against Caledonia in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 40-35. Can Smithville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
