Volleyball Recap: Northside Falls Short Against Ranked Mansfield

Northside faced Mansfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Grizzlies took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Northside was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by exactly two points. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-23.

Caroline Mckinney paced Northside's offense, picking up nine kills. Mckinney got some help from Jalliyah Freeman-Rhone and her 11 assists. Freeman-Rhone was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Northside now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Mansfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Northside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Gravette on the 27th. As for Mansfield, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Lincoln on the 27th.
