Baseball Recap: Central Aroostook Triumphs

Central Aroostook's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Wisdom Pioneers 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since April 29, 2024.

Jonathan McDonald made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. McDonald was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Kason Bell and Dayton Taylor did most of the damage at the plate: Bell went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs, while Taylor went 3-for-4 with two runs. Bell is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Trace Kinney, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Central Aroostook's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Wisdom, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
