Basketball Recap: Harper Thober's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Shelton over Silver Lake

After flying high against Giltner last Monday, Shelton came back down to earth. The Shelton Bulldogs fell 45-38 to the Silver Lake Mustangs on Thursday. The game marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Shelton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Harper Thober, who posted ten points and seven rebounds. Ben Myers was another key player, putting up nine points and seven boards.

Silver Lake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Beau Bonifas, who scored 11 points and five rebounds. Those five boards gave Bonifas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Conway, who put up eight points and six rebounds.

Shelton's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Silver Lake, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Shelton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 51-43 loss against Deshler on the 8th. As for Silver Lake, they have also already played their next game, a 62-45 victory against Red Cloud on the 8th.
