Soccer Game Preview: Bishop England vs. Lakewood

The Bishop England Battling Bishops will take on the Lakewood Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Bishop England is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: Ashley Ridge, who was ranked third at the time (Bishop England was ranked 13th). The Battling Bishops fell just short of the Swamp Foxes by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. Bishop England's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Lakewood kept a clean sheet against Lower Richland on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Diamond Hornets 1-0. Lakewood haven't had any issues with Lower Richland recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Lakewood's one-goal win came courtesy of Abner Motika, who's now up to 17 this season.

Bishop England's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Lakewood, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
