Softball Game Preview: Rustburg Red Devils vs. Halifax County Comets

For the second straight game, Rustburg will face off against Halifax County. The Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Comets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Rustburg is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Halifax County hit Rustburg with a four-run fifth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils fell just short of the Comets by a score of 5-4.

Cayden Miller was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paiten Archer, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Halifax County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Rustburg, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
