Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Thomas Edwards and Nyisah Miranda Lead Avon to Victory

Avon waltzed into their game on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against Calvary Chapel Academy as they made off with a 78-54 victory. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 66-47 victory back in January.

Leading Avon to victory were Nyisah Miranda and Thomas Edwards. Miranda dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten assists, while Edwards went 7-for-12 from beyond the arc on his way to 32 points. Edwards has been hot for a while, having posted 17 or more points the last 17 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ishmael Libert, who posted five points.

Avon's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-7.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers face off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Avon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.4 points per game this season. Calvary Chapel Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
