Softball Recap: North Summit Braves vs. San Juan Broncos
North Summit extended their losing streak to eight on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-9 in the process. They lost 18-0 to the San Juan Broncos. If the Braves were looking for revenge after losing 16-1 to the Broncos when the teams met back in May of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for San Juan, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-13. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.
For San Juan's part, Khatira Keith made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Keith has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple.
In other batting news, San Juan let Averie Gilson and Miley Harrison run wild. Gilson got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Harrison fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave Harrison a new career-high. Morgann Mcpherson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
While North Summit had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
