Softball Recap: Mesquite Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Campo Verde, Mesquite was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over the St. Mary's Knights. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wildcats' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Jacee Cisneros was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emelie Escalante, who earned one RBI, one run, and three stolen bases.

Mesquite's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for St. Mary's, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

Mesquite will have a chance to go back-to-back against St. Mary's: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
