Softball Recap: Tolleson's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Tolleson had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Casteel on Monday. Everything went the Tolleson Wolverines' way against the Casteel Colts as the Tolleson Wolverines made off with a 17-7 victory. Considering the Wolverines have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Mayrin Acuna tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, Marina Lara and Jada Rubalcava did most of the damage at the plate: Lara fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and one double while going 3-for-5, while Rubalcava scored five runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits Rubalcava has posted since back in April of 2024. Dani Chairez was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Tolleson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Casteel only posted an OBP of .382.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Casteel, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-4.

Tolleson didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-7 victory against Millennium on the 6th. As for Casteel, they have also already played their next game, a 9-0 loss against Xavier College Prep on the 7th.
