The Mt. Carmel Sundevils''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 41-21 defeat at the hands of Rancho Bernardo. Carmel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while Rancho Bernardo is ranked 167th).

Another reason for the win was Rancho Bernardo's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was James Fisher and his two sacks.

Mt. Carmel's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Rancho Bernardo, Del Norte, and Ramona. As for Rancho Bernardo, their win bumped their record up to 5-5.

Mt. Carmel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Rancho Bernardo will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bishop's at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th.
